The Dalessio Family: Today it rained :(

We woke up this morning to miserable weather. It was suppose to be nasty tomorrow, so we had to switch our days around. No biggie! We did a hop on hop off bus today to keep as dry as possible. Spent some time in the old town center seeing St. Stephens Cathedral, the State Opera House (during the day), and did a little window shopping. Had the largest and best hotdog!!! The bus also took us across the Danube into the more modern section of the city where the UN has a headquarters. It was super miserable by this time so pictures are not great. For a little break we went to Café Spel for some coffee and pastry. The café hasn't changed décor since the late 1800's. It was creaky and smelled like an old attic but the food was great. After more bus riding, the rain was really coming down by this time, we tried to go back to the hotel. We picked the wrong tram and ended up way out in the suburbs! I guess you have to get lost at least once. Anyway, super heavy down pure of course with no covered waiting area to wait for the right tram! We had dinner at the Schnitzerwit restaurant. It was recommended because it was a neighborhood place with few tourists. Amazing portions, amazing food. I'm realizing that I've been talking a lot about food! It's hard not too because it is so good! Weiner Schnitzle is to die for! Anyway, we really have been doing more than just eating. It's hard to describe the city. It super efficient in every way. It's very green. There's never just one garbage can there are 4 so you can recycle, even in the subways. The people are super helpful and friendly but very reserved. It is the quietest place we've ever been. Even during rush hour the trains are silent. At night when the beer starts flowing everything changes. It's really something! I've tried so show some pictures, it was hard to get pictures today because of the rain. I'm expecting really good pictures tomorrow. Less talk of food!!
